4 Days Serengeti Migration Safari | Tanzania Great Migration Tour

Serengeti Hippopotamus

Tour Overview

There are wildlife spectacles. Then there is the Great Migration. Every year, more than two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle travel across the Serengeti ecosystem in a circular search for fresh grass and water. This movement has happened since long before humans walked these plains. This 4 Days Serengeti Migration Safari puts you right at the heart of it.

All four days focus entirely on the Serengeti. Your guide tracks the herds in real time, positioning you at the most productive wildlife zones each morning. Between July and October, the action moves north to the Mara River. Here, wildebeest plunge into crocodile-filled waters in one of the most breathtaking spectacles in nature. During other months, the calving season (January to March) or the northward build-up (May to June) offer equally dramatic chapters of this year-round story.

Beyond the migration, the Serengeti’s resident predators remain active all year. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs patrol the plains constantly , each one capable of delivering a moment that stops your heart.
Four days. One park. Endless wonder.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Serengeti (Central)
Transfer from Arusha (road or fly-in option) to the Central Serengeti. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in the Seronera Valley , one of the most reliable wildlife corridors in Tanzania, home to resident lion prides, leopards on rocky kopjes, and cheetah on open plains. Overnight at your tented camp.

Day 2: Full Day Migration Tracking – Central Serengeti
Today is dedicated to finding the migration. Your guide communicates with fellow guides and rangers across the park to locate the herds. Witnessing hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra moving in unison is one of the great wonders of the natural world. In between migration viewing, look out for the predators that follow close behind , lions, cheetah, wild dog, and spotted hyena.

Day 3: Northern Serengeti – Mara River (seasonal)
Between July and October, the migration moves into the Northern Serengeti for the dramatic Mara River crossings. Wildebeest gather in nervous masses at the riverbank before plunging into the crocodile-filled water in a heart-stopping spectacle. If you visit during peak crossing season, today could be the single most dramatic wildlife experience of your life. In other months, the central and southern Serengeti offer spectacular calving season (January–March) or northward migration build-up (June).

Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Return to Arusha
One last morning in the Serengeti before transferring back to Arusha. The Serengeti gives generously , even on a final morning, a leopard with a kill, a pride of lions, or a cheetah hunt can provide a final unforgettable scene.
