4 Days Tanzania Northern Circuit Safari | Serengeti, Ngorongoro & Tarangire

Tour Overview

Four days hit the sweet spot. It is long enough to absorb Tanzania’s greatest parks and short enough to fit around a wider travel itinerary.
This safari covers the three parks that define Tanzania’s reputation , Tarangire, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater, with enough time in each to genuinely appreciate what makes them special.

The journey starts in Tarangire. Ancient baobab trees and enormous elephant herds set the tone immediately. Next, the route winds through the highland forests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before dropping into the Serengeti, a landscape arrival that never fails to take the breath away. Two days in Africa’s most famous park give you time to settle in, track wildlife at a relaxed pace, and begin reading the landscape the way your guide does.
Finally, the safari closes with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater. It is a spectacular and fitting final chapter.
Whether this is your first safari or one of many, four days on the Northern Circuit delivers a genuine cross-section of Tanzanian wildlife in a time frame that suits almost any travel schedule.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Depart Arusha after breakfast and head south to Tarangire National Park. Spend the afternoon on game drives through the baobab-studded savannah, watching elephant herds move to the river, lions resting in the shade, and giraffes browsing the treetops. Dinner and overnight at your camp or lodge near the park.

Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
After a morning game drive in Tarangire, travel northwest through the Ngorongoro Highlands and on into the Serengeti, a journey that feels like travelling through the chapters of a geography book. En route, you may spot Maasai warriors tending their cattle across open grasslands. Arrive in the Serengeti for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight in the Serengeti.

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti Safari
Rise before dawn for the most rewarding time in the park. Your guide will position you in the best locations for predator activity, migration movements (seasonal), and big cat sightings. Spend the entire day exploring , central Serengeti, Seronera Valley (famous for leopard), or further north depending on the wildlife movement. Evening at camp under a sky overflowing with stars.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
Drive from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater for a half-day game drive among its famously dense wildlife. After a picnic lunch on the crater floor, begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.
