1 Day Tarangire Wildlife Safari | Tanzania Day Tour

Tarangire Rhino

Tour Overview

Not everyone has a week to spend in the bush, and Tanzania understands that. This 1 Day Tarangire Safari is designed for travellers who want to experience the magic of wild Africa without sacrificing days of their itinerary. In just one day, you will drive through one of Tanzania’s most scenic and wildlife-rich national parks, encounter some of the largest elephant herds on the continent, and return to Arusha by evening with memories that will last far longer than the journey.

Tarangire National Park is often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbours, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, but those who visit quickly understand why safari enthusiasts hold it in such high regard. The park’s permanent river acts as a magnet for wildlife during the dry season, drawing animals from across the surrounding landscape into one spectacular, concentrated space. Ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, tower over the golden grasslands, giving Tarangire a visual grandeur that is entirely its own.

This safari is perfect as a standalone day trip, as a warm-up before a longer safari, or as a wildlife add-on to a Zanzibar beach holiday. However, you arrive at it, Tarangire will not disappoint.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Arusha

Your adventure begins early. Your Kori Safaris guide will collect you from your hotel in Arusha before sunrise, and as the African morning light begins to spread across the land, you will make your way south toward Tarangire National Park, roughly a two-hour drive through the spectacular Maasai steppe.
Entering the park, you will immediately notice the landscape that makes Tarangire so distinctive: ancient baobab trees, some thousands of years old, dotting the golden grasslands like silent sentinels. In the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a lifeline for wildlife, and you may witness concentrations of elephants unlike anywhere else in Tanzania, sometimes hundreds moving together in the same direction, raising clouds of ochre dust.

Along with elephants, Tarangire is home to lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, and over 500 bird species. Your guide will expertly track wildlife through the park’s varied landscapes while sharing fascinating stories about animal behaviour and Tanzanian ecosystems.
Enjoy a well-earned picnic lunch in the heart of the park surrounded by the sights and sounds of wild Africa. The afternoon brings more game drives before the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening with memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.
